Why we’re building Growthly this way.

We wanted Growthly to have room for both sides of building — an open place to learn and meet people, and a smaller place where people can work closely and actually ship.

When we first started thinking about Growthly, one of the biggest questions was simple: what kind of community are we actually building?

Most builder communities online end up in one of two extremes. Either they become giant, noisy servers where thousands of people talk but almost nothing gets finished, or they become rigid, closed groups that are impossible for newcomers to enter.

We tried a few different ways to structure this, and most of them felt too complicated. In the end, we realized that people don’t need a single hybrid space that tries to do everything. They need two distinct environments that work together naturally.

“Not everyone needs the same kind of community at the same time. Some people need room to explore; others need quiet room to ship.”

The Open Side: Growthly Space

Growthly Space is meant to stay open and welcoming. If you’re just starting out, exploring a new stack, or trying to find someone who shares your interest in a specific idea, you need an open front door.

You don’t need to prove anything before you enter. You can show up, ask a question, share what you’re currently building, or just sit in on conversations and listen. The goal of Space is to make knowledge and good people easier to discover.

The Focused Side: Team Growthly

Building real software with other people requires a very different dynamic. Once you have a clear project in mind and you want to commit time each week, having hundreds of unrelated conversations around you becomes a distraction.

Team Growthly is intentionally kept small. When a team is small, people know each other by name, can give direct and honest feedback, and can hold each other accountable without bureaucracy. It’s less about general chatter and more about weekly sprints and getting things out the door.

Where Growthly Nest Fits In

Nest is the quiet layer behind both. It doesn’t try to be another front-facing brand that demands attention. Instead, it looks after the practical details: tools, funding, operational support, and giving promising internal projects room to expand.

We’re still early, and we’re continuing to adjust how these pieces fit together. But keeping the boundary clear between our open community and our smaller working teams is the most important decision we’ve made.

If you have thoughts on this or are building something similar, we’re always happy to talk.
